Who you are dealing with
Leon and Claire, and a team that is qualified
Brisbane Trees is run by Leon and Claire out of Ipswich. Leon honed his craft over 15+ years in New Zealand, and now leads a qualified team working across the whole of Brisbane.
A craft learned the hard way

Leon did not learn this trade in a weekend course. He spent over 15+ years working in New Zealand, one of the more demanding places in the world to be an arborist, on steep country, in serious timber, in weather that does not cooperate. That is where the craft got honed: the climbing, the rigging, and the judgement that only comes from time in the canopy.
He now runs the team here in Brisbane, and that experience shows up in the small decisions. How a limb is going to behave once the tension comes off it. Where a rope goes so a section lands where it should. What a tree is telling you before it tells everyone else.
Anyone can drop a tree. Doing it without touching the house, the fence or the neighbour is the actual job. Leon, Brisbane Trees
Qualified, not just experienced
Experience on its own is a good way to pick up bad habits. The team at Brisbane Trees holds formal arboricultural qualifications: AQF Level 5 and AQF Level 3.
Level 5 is the consulting end of the trade. It covers tree biology, structural assessment, risk evaluation and reporting, which is what councils and developers ask for when they need an arborist report that will stand up. Level 3 is the qualified operational arborist, the ticket that says the person up the tree has been trained to do it properly and safely, to Australian Standards.
Between the two, Brisbane Trees can handle the whole picture: the report that says what should happen to a tree, and the crew that carries it out.
Ipswich based, all of Brisbane covered
The team is based in Ipswich and works right across Brisbane, Ipswich, Logan and the surrounding South East Queensland region. From a single overgrown backyard gum to storm response for a body corporate or a tree report for a development application, it is the same qualified team on the job.
South East Queensland is hard on trees. Big storm seasons, heavy summer growth, camphor laurel and other weed species that need handling correctly, and council rules that catch a lot of people out. Knowing all of that is part of the job, not an afterthought.
Why Brisbane Trees
- AQF Level 5 and Level 3 qualified, not just experienced
- Fixed written prices, not a range that moves once the work starts
- Fully insured, including public liability, with certificates available on request
- Pruning to Australian Standard AS 4373, not a haircut
- Arborist reports that meet council and development application requirements
- We clean up properly, because the mess is half of what you are paying for
Leon and Claire
Leon leads the tree work and the team. Claire keeps the business running, which means when you call or email, you are dealing with the people who own it, not a call centre. That is deliberate. It is how you make sure the person who quotes your job and the person who turns up to do it are on the same page.
The record
From the ground up
A trunk lays down a ring for every year it stands, and you can read the whole history in a cross section. Leon's trade was built the same way: 15+ years in New Zealand at the core, formal qualifications on top of it, and a Brisbane team at the outer ring.
